F.F.F.-03.15.13

What?  It's Friday so soon?

It's a good thing I participate in Friday's Favorite Five. The days whirl around so fast, you could easily lose track of this season in your life if you didn't make yourself stop and reflect.

It's been a quiet week here on the Journey (and also at the office).

Here are some of the things I've been doing:

1.  Studying:  I got an unexpected invitation to lead Wednesday's bible study.  I feasted on the riches of Judges chapter 6.  I love leading bible study - it's my favorite thing to do.

2.  Exercising:  I've started using the Leslie Sansone "Walk Away the Pounds."  Walking in the comfort of my home?  Yes!  I can do that!

3.  Watching TV:  This time of year, I watch TV more than usual.  American Idol takes up two evenings a week and I've become obsessed with Duck Dynasty.  (I don't know why, because I'm certainly no way near being a redneck!)  As I've said before, I love watching the stories of the artists evolve on American Idol, even though I'm not a fan of pop music.  It was awesome this week just to see how much more polished all the performers were.  I believe Candice Glover was the hit of the evening.

4.  Writing:  I'm getting more serious about writing (especially since I started reading "A Writer's Book of Days" by Judy Reeves.  (Thanks for the heads up regarding this book, May, from Achieving Clarity.)  Ideas galore are floating in this brain of mine.  All I need is just more time to get them on paper.

My favorite blogpost to write this week is a toss-up between He Notices or Darbyland.  Both posts caused me to dwell in nostalgia, remembering events in the past.  I totally believe that everything that happens in one's life is for a reason.  It means something.  I want to use everything that has happened to and around me.  Let nothing go to waste!

5. Reflecting: A lot of those thoughts swirling in my brain this week included thoughts on how intimately aware God is of every detail of my life.  He even knows the daily count of the hairs on my head - you can't get much more personal than that!  Such a thought blows my mind.  I can't keep track of all that goes on in my children's life, especially since they have gone out on their own. I've only got 3 kids, how does God keep up with all of His?

I saw a great quote that I have to share with you:

Sometimes your only available transportation is a leap of faith.
… seen on twitter

God honors faith. I believe He is especially pleased when we take a deep breath, close our eyes, and take that leap of faith.  He'll always be there with us when we land.

Bonus:  I ran across this photo this week when I was looking through my pictures to illustrate a blog.  I don't think I've ever shared it before, but I really love the colors:

My Father, the Master Artist, painted it for me and set this picture directly behind my house!

And so ends another week on the Journey.  Thank you for stopping by!  If you'd like to share your week, you can link up at Susanne's blog, Living to Tell the Story.

  1. Hey! We love Duck Dynasty, Jack! It just some corny, redneck goodness without all the added drama that apparently 'sells' in the world.

  2. I have just started to hear of Duck Dynasty. I'm almost afraid to look it up because I have way too much I am watching right now between American Idol, Amazing Race, Chicago Fire, Top Chef (U.S. with the Canadian one starting in a few weeks) and the Bible (on the history channel. If I add one more I might just turn into a real life couch potato.

Love that you are inspired to write and are running with it!

  3. Beautiful picture, and I love the quote!

Go after that writing, I say. The Lord gave you the ability and the desire for a reason.

    Have a great week!

  7. That is one great quote! Sounds like you enjoyed that unexpected invitation to lead -- maybe you'll do it again? You have a knack for writing your experiences so I'm sure you enjoyed the nostalgia.
