FFF-10.26.12

It's the last Friday of October here on the Journey.  It's time to reflect on the blessings and little highlights of my week. To be honest, this week has been a slow quiet week with really nothing newsworthy to share.  Yet there are always small joys if you look for them.

1.  I was gifted with an Ipad!  It's an older version, but that is just fine with me.  I downloaded a Kindle app for the Ipad and have been busy downloading free versions of the bible and other books.  I spend more time downloading than I do actually reading so far ... I've also been taking it to church to use as my bible, and I have even been taking notes on it.  I'm not the best touchscreen typist but I am getting better.  It's nice to not have to worry about taking a notebook along with my "bible."

2.  A quiet week at work with no deadlines:  It makes the stress level so much lower!

3.  Still bloggin' - I'm winding down on my 31 Days of Encouragement journey.  I've just got 5 posts to go.  In the midst of blogging encouragement, I did a post just for fun called "Don't Be A Turtle."  It brought back sweet memories of my three chicklets.  Wish they were still small!

4.  This post by Ann VoskampHow to Live, Blog, Write.  I've been feasting on her words this week as I ponder why I blog.

5.  Along the same lines is this quote of the week by Lisa-Jo Baker who explains that being small as a blogger is okay:

Small is how the Savior fit into our skin.
…but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness. ~Philippians 2:7.
… Lisa-Jo Baker,  31 days to write your story {23} for the days when yourblog or your life feel small

Thus ends another week on the Journey.  If you'd like to share your week, link up at Susanne's Living to Tell the Story.

  1. I finally found you! I had lost your blog and my mind is so muddled that...oh never mind! I am glad to be back around your beautiful blog. I see you have been doing 31 days of Encouragment and I thought you might like to come over to my new blog, Used be Bookworms Homestead. I am hosting the Giving Thanks Challenge in the month of November. I have posted the introductory post already.

  2. I love the idea of your 31 Days of encouragement series. You are right, it is something that is always needed. Later this weekend I will grab a cup of cinnamon tea, read your posts and feel encouraged. Thanks, Jerralea, for posting all the links on one page. Makes it so much easier to find them.

Thanks also for the link to Ann Voskamp's post. I was impacted by this thought: "So tell me your story, not your sermons, tell me your thrashing, and not just your theology. Tell me about your questions – and not just your quest."

    have a great weekend.

  3. I recently got an ipad and I have really been enjoying it. There are so many interesting apps to use it with! I feel like we get our money's worth because both my husband and I use it constantly.

  4. Have you checked the free Christian books for Kindle? I'm always downloading something there!

Love your series! Wish I had been as disciplined as you. And I love Ann -- you always have such GOOD recommendations!

    Have a great week ahead.

  5. No deadlines! How great is that!

How fun that you got an iPad! I'm sure that typing will improve as you use it more.

  6. Interesting quote about smallness. I like small because there's less guilt when I can't keep up with my fellow commenters! I know what you mean about downloading vs. actual reading. It's a lot like the audiobooks I borrow from the library that comes in CDs. So nice you had a relaxing deadline-free week. Enjoy the week to come!

Don't you love quiet weeks when you don't have deadlines?
