Daybook - 09.24.12

Can it really be the last Monday in September?

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...
39° - what a shocker!  No worries, though.  It will be in my beloved 70s by this afternoon.

I am thinking...

I am thankful... that I've had a week off and that I am going back to a job I love.

In the kitchen...pork chops tonight and fried okra - fresh from Florence's garden ...

I am wearing... black pants, turquoise sparkly top and black knit shrug.  Hmm... should I wear the sandals I have laid out or switch to closed-toe shoes ...

I am creating...a digital scrapbook giveaway ... more about that in days to come.

I am reading... a collection of 20 short stories featuring one of my favorite sleuths, Miss Marple by Agatha Christie.

I am hoping... to have a nice long mild fall season.  I love this time of year when you don't need air conditioning OR heat.

I am looking forward to... the leaves turning, which should be in couple weeks or so.

I am learning...you just never know about people, but you can always depend on God.  He's the same yesterday, today and forever.

Around the house...a few touches of fall are showing up - I need to get out all my candles ... nothing makes cozy fall evenings like candlelight.

A favorite quote for today...

"God's not asking me to produce - He's asking me to pray."  Ann Voskamp

Ouch!  Ann's statement is like a quick stomping across my toes ... It flies right in the face of my to-do list-making self.  I don't HAVE to produce every day ... but I do need to PRAY everyday ...

One of my favorite things...weather cool enough to make chili.  Yum-o!

A few plans for the rest of the week: getting caught up at work, and a digital scrapbook project.

A peek into my day...

One of the things I love best - little white church buildings.  How I love the church!  It's home to me.  Is it filled with all good Christians who will never hurt anyone?  No, it's filled with humans who make mistakes and sometimes, unfortunately, they will hurt you. But, they're still family.  And you don't give up on family.  Jesus loved the church so much He gave His life for it.  Can we do any less?

  1. Your favorite quote reminded me of a Brother Lawrence quote (or what I thought was a Brother Lawrence quote but I couldn't find it.). It had something to do with thinking of every action as an act of prayer. This post was wonderful and a neat glimpse into your life.

  2. It's been really cool around here at night too, a few nights just above freezing but then some of the days are hovering around the 80* mark. Sheesh. I've been getting fall scented candles out too. My new favorite is Autumn Day from Bath & Body Works.

  3. Wonderful quote. I love having the AC and the heat turned off, with the windows open! I'm enjoying our weather so much, I wish every month was September:)

  4. Hmmmmm. Since "I am thinking..." was left blank, does that mean you aren't thinking? I've had a long day and would love to join you in that (non)activity! *wink*

I'm learning the same thing about God, and I am soooooo thankful!

Have a blessed day, my friend. :)
