FOR TODAY, MONDAY, AUGUST 27
Outside my window...79° and a chance of rain.
Outside my window...79° and a chance of rain.
I am thinking... it's so sad when people want their way at the expense of others ....
I am thankful...for my family!
In the kitchen... ham and beans and cornbread today (I ended up not having them last week); spaghetti one day, pork chops, tacos and grilled steak on other days.
I am wearing...white capris, white sandals and a blue and green top
I am creating... a new system to keep track of all the receipts that come in from my full-time church.
I am reading... a biography on Bonhoeffer - still - and also thinking I might start Francis Chan's "Crazy Love."
I am hoping...that a dear friend's feelings will be soothed and she will see what God's will is in her present circumstances.
I am learning ... to be vigilant in prayer - you never know when satan will try to blindside you.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV)
Around the house... I got my first mums of the season to plant! I love those cheerful flowers, especially in fall weather. I'm also excited because the end of this week, I'm going to start some fall decorating. It's not too early, is it?
I am pondering... Hosea 14:2 (HCSB)
Take words of repentance with you
and return to the Lord.
Say to Him: “Forgive all our sin
and accept what is good,
so that we may repay You
with praise from our lips.
For all He has done for us, He just wants to be repaid with praise? I can do that - I want to do it, for who else has been with me through thick and thin like He has? Who else gave His life that I may go free?
A favorite quote for today... "Everything is temporary." This was said in our Sunday School class yesterday. It's kind of a variation of "This, too, shall pass." It's a good reminder that hard times will pass. The child of God must focus on his destiny, an eternity so wonderful we can't even imagine the greatness of it.
One of my favorite things... cool weather! May it come soon!
A few plans for the rest of the week: some serious study in the Word. I've been slack, lately.
A peek into my day...
A peek into my day...
Last Saturday, I was on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. I was able to snap a photo of Bald Knob Cross - 47 miles away! My little Canon Powershot is awesome!
Daybooks are the brainchild of Peggy Hostetler. If you'd like to link up, go to her blog, The Simple Woman's Daybook.
LOVE the pic of the cross. How beautiful that you can see that from your home! I love your comment "everything is temporary." I want to remember that EVERY day.
ReplyDeleteI was wanting to read that Bonhoeffer book, till I saw how hefty it was. Don't know if I could make it through that one. You'll have to let us know what you thought.
ReplyDeleteWow, I can't believe that shot you got from so far away!
