Blast from the Past: Two Jerrys

Today, I'm sharing a re-post from July 2008, "Two Jerrys" in response to the Writer's Workshop prompt,  1.) Recycle a favorite post from July of any year that you have been blogging.

I have been blogging for 4 years now (where has the time gone?), and every so often, it's fun to share a post that was dear to my heart. Just recently, I share a photo of my dad and me when he was young. Today, I'm sharing a photo of each of us when we were REALLY young!

Two Jerrys

One of these pictures is of a little boy named Jerry. The other is a little girl named Jerri. Which is which?

Believe it or not, the picture on top is of my dad. The year was probably 1936 or maybe '37. What was Grandma thinking? It's one thing to dress him in a sissy top like that, but why the topknot? Looks like Dad was way overdue on his first haircut. Wasn't he precious?

The biker babe on the bottom is me, Jerri. It bothers me that he looks more feminine in his photo than I do ...

  1. Oh, that's funny! My mother in law put my husband in his big sister's bonnets when he was a baby because she didn't want to buy any hats for him. I tease him relentlessly about it.

  2. Did your dad ever live that picture down?

  3. Too funny~ when my dad was three, he had long ringlets that his mom loved and didn't cut. Poor kid! Today, he keeps a buzzy cut, b/c he hates the curl!
