I love to look back on my week and relect on the good things that happened. Things that made me happy or smile in the midst of every day life. There is a wonderful group of people that participate in the meme, Friday's Fave Five, and they share the highlights from their week. Visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story if you'd like to learn more.
1. For those of you that know me, you understand that new dishes bring me joy. Here are a couple of photos that show more of my latest obsession:
The table was only set for three that night ...
I bought these black plates at Good Will in Florida, $1.06 per plate! The napkins and glass salad bowls were yard sale purchases. Since I love table settings so much, I have to be frugal to indulge my obsession. As regarding storage, these black dishes are very thin. I bought 5 dinner plates and 5 dessert plates. They only take up about 4 inches in one of my stacks of dishes.
2. Another thing I did this week that my FFF buddies know I love was to take another road trip. This time, hubby and I went to a place on the Ohio River. (Usually, we visit the Mississippi River parks.)
I love photos with blue sky, clouds and water.
These barges were filled with coal.
We sat on a bench and watched boats go by ... sooo peaceful!
We stayed a long time ...
til dusk ...
3. I enjoy visiting historical sites. We also visited Fort Massac on our road trip. Unfortunately, my camera batteries were beginning to die on me, so only a few shots:
I took this next photo upstairs in one of the bunkhouses looking out the window across the courtyard to the other bunkhouse.
Here's a photo of a statue of George Rogers Clark, the famous explorer.
It was a good day ...
4. Later in the week, I went to a ladies meeting at church. The highlight of that day was that we felt new direction from God. In essence, "Quit waiting for your church to grow so that you can help hurting people, help hurting people now, and THEN your church will grow." As hearing from God always does, we felt excited and rejuvenated and ready to "keep on keeping on."
5. Last night, Hubs and I went to pick up something from Home Depot and then visited our favorite pizza place. We always order the "Saluki Special," which is a supreme pizza featuring sliced apples. Yum!
I love your black plates and really love the bargain you got! Glad you got in another road trip. How fun. The clouds and water are so beautiful. You got some beautiful shots. The message you received about helping others is one we all benefit from hearing! Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteYay to visiting historical sites. Watching boats go by is so wonderfully peaceful indeed. Before I realized they were plates I thought you had new precious stones, and was sure they were navy blue. (I'm slightly color blind) I love them, and the lovely photos you shared. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOh, I also love historical sites. And a roadtrip with the husband? That's so fun! Glad to hear you had such a wonderful time. Congrats on the dishes as well. Your table setting is very lovely.
ReplyDeleteHappy FFF!

your message is so true - the time to act is now.

Great photos and week it looks like!!! Ahh that water pictures are amazing! We love history, that place looks neat. We just visited Beavior-the home of the late Jefferson Davis. Glad to meet you and thanks for stopping by at my blog!
ReplyDeleteSliced apples! That's I think the first time I've heard of that. Fun!
ReplyDeleteHey girl you never ever have to justify buying plates to me. :0) It's fun to change things up...
Your pictures were great. Glad you got away with your husband...
Sounds like a great week! I happen to love place settings too... I can always appreciate new dishes, linens, vases, etc. So fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE that your church ladies decided not to wait for more people anymore! We were in that place a couple of years ago - and decided to move forward on the ministries we've been putting off for years anyway - and NOW we have loads of new people coming in! Just follow where God leads - He'll take care of the rest! :)
Always love your Friday sharing....
ReplyDeleteDishes are an obsession of mine as well! I love dishes!! Great pictures.

Love the new dishes. They look gorgeous with the red checked napkins.
ReplyDeleteI think you and I would get along great visiting river parks and historical sites. I love to do the same.
Black plates are very pretty and they really make the food look good on the plate, don't they? I enjoyed this post, as well as all your photos. That scenery is breathtaking, I particularly like the pictures you took at dusk! I hope you're having a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMORE new plates! LOL! I love it! And I love the black with the red/white checks! Very cute!
ReplyDeleteI love getting "direction" from the Lord - whether for church business or my personal life - I find it exhilarating! I am still praying for your church to find a new Pastor... anything happening there?
It looks like you two had a really good time on your road trip! YAY!
