1. Right after posting last week's FFF, my hubby and I joined our friends on a trip to Nashville, TN. I really enjoy doing things with this group of friends -- most of them are also my students in my Sunday School class.
Time spent with friends: priceless!
2. Of course, one of the highlights of getting out of town for a few days is the joy of eating out! We visited Cracker Barrel at least 3 times, Shoney's, and the highlight - Cock of the Walk Catfish Restaurant in Nashville. Talk about delicious! After eating fish, we gathered in the lobby to take silly pictures of everyone in the giant rocking chair:
3. Then it was on to the Grand Ole Opry! I took pictures of everyone, but decided that I need a new camera with a better zoom! I'll share a few with you:
(You'd be surprised how many younger women dug out their cameras and came up to the stage to get his picture!)

(Mom always liked him!)
(Sorry, it's a little blurry. She never would turn and face my direction!)
The best part? We had front row seats!
4. Next day, our group headed to Opry Mills Mall. I had a great time going to stores that are not at home: Bed, Bath and Beyond and Kirklands. I love stores that feature home furnishings! I bought some cereal bowls at BB&B but then I had to lug them through the whole mall. I didn't love that part so much ...
5. Then we went over to visit Trinity City, TBN's broadcast studio in Nashville. The studio is located on the former estate of Conway Twitty. We took a tour of his home. It was very beautiful. My camera battery chose to die then, but I did get a few shots of the inside.
Here is his dining room:
And here is his office:
And a bonus favorite: getting back home! Aah... It's good to be home!
I love taking tours of fancy houses!

It sounds like your trip was so much fun, Jerri! I have always wanted to eat at Cracker Barrel, it intrigues me, but being in California I'm not likely to come across one anytime soon. :)
ReplyDeleteWell you obviously enjoyed your trip..I've never eaten there. I'm going across the line next week...I'll check it out.
ReplyDeleteSo it looks like you teach adults.
That's my favorite group.
What a fun trip. I remember my daddy playing Charlie Pride records when I was a young girl as we were getting ready for church. Glad you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteSounds like such a fun trip. It's great that so many of you could and would travel together :0)
ReplyDeleteI agree it's always good to come back home. Blessings on your weekend...
You had such great fun it was also fun to read your faves.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have that many stores here that feature home furnishings. I spend hours in one of the few that we have, admiring individual items for sale. My favorite is the garden supply section :) A great weekend to you!
Wow! Sounds like a wonderful trip - what a blessing that you have so many good friends to share the experience with.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to go to the Grand Ole Oprey! Lucky you!
We just went through Nashville on our way back to SC from OK -- but didn't really stop. Last night was the first time I cooked in 9 days -- I love that about being out of town, too, the eating out. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe used to have a Kirkland's but it closed -- I miss it!
Sounds like you had a wonderful time!
It looks like you had a great trip. I haven't thought of Charlie Pride in quite a long time. Great faves.
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun! I laughed at you lugging the bowls across the mall. That sounds just like something I would do.
ReplyDeleteI've never eaten at a Cracker Barrel but I've heard so many people rave about them.
Oh looks like you had a great time with your friends. Those are some interesting names for restaurants but I'm sure the food must have been great!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great trip.
ReplyDeleteCracker Barrel is always a travel fav of mine. It is such a comfort to know that no matter where you go you can always count on the ol' CB>
Blessings
Robin
Front row seats BEATS a better zoom! Enjoy your weekend, and have another great week!
ReplyDeleteWe saw Little Jimmy Dickens when we went to the Opry! Isn't he funny. And Connie Smith too. We saw them in the Ryman last Nov. and sat in last row seats. Glad your trip was fun and safe.
