Time for Friday's Fave 5! This is a time set aside to reflect on our 5 favorite things from this week. It could be an event, a picture, a quote -- anything that brightened your week.
1. One of the highlights of my week was that one of our church members, a returning soldier, came home from Kosovo safe and sound. We are so glad to have him back. Welcome home, Bro. Michael! You may not realize it but your church home is not the same when someone is missing.
2. We had a Welcome Home potluck for Bro. Michael and someone made one of my favorite things: 7 Layered Salad. It was delicious!
3. As I've said before in other posts, I am a procrastinator. This week, I did one of my favorite things - finished a project that had been hanging over my head. I got my taxes done. Why I kept putting it off, I don't know. I knew I was getting a refund and still did not want to do it.
4. Last night, I made one of my favorite dishes: Fried Rice with Shrimp. (It's sad that two of my favorites are food ... ) Anyway, I got the basic recipe from Mother Hen at Ship Full O' Pirates, and added shrimp to it. Thanks, Mother Hen! (Sorry, I couldn't find the link to the recipe.)
5. Here's a favorite scripture:
“In the morning O Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.”
Psalms 5:3
Psalms 5:3
Are you expectantly waiting?
Hi, Thanks for visiting me. It's always a treat to hear from new bloggers, and recognize that we are connected through similar values.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your themes, like Thankful Thursday, it makes it much easier to keep things simple and clean.
Blessings to you.
What a blessing to have a soldier returned home, safe and alive.
A beautiful verse!
ReplyDelete"waiting in expectation"
So hopeful - perfect verse for spring-time!
Mmm - that Fried Rice with Shrimp sounds delicious!
Happy weekend Jerralea!
Your first item is a wonderful blessing, indeed! So glad your friend is home safely!
ReplyDeleteSeven Layer salad is also one of my favorites! :)
Hope your next week is as wonderful.
Seven Layer Salad ... YUMMY YUM YUM!!
ReplyDeleteAnd ... that is a wonderful scripture to share. Thank you!
MMMMMMMM the food sounds delicious. And the celebration for the soldier back from Kosovo must have been teriffic. Boy I need to get back to Honolulu and finish my taxes YIKES...have a great weekend
ReplyDeleteHooray for finished projects! I know from experience this week how good they feel.
ReplyDeleteI made a new fried rice recipe recently. I'll have to check out Mother Hen's version ... I used to read her blog daily.
Can you believe I have never had a 7 layer salad? I'll have to remedy that. How awesome for your returning soldier and church member to be home.
ReplyDeleteOh, goodness, I am hungry now and it's almost 1:00AM! :) I love that salad, too, and your rice dish sounds yum-o!
ReplyDeleteAbout my folders, I do just trace and paste--easy! I've sold several sets, I'm sure plenty of ladies would rather buy them than make them--I feel that way about most handmade items, too! :)
What a great week you've had! Welcome home to The Soldier (that's dear to my heart as my son is home now and so is my son in law)!
ReplyDeleteOuch! Did you have to say taxes?? Ours AREN'T done.
7 layered saled - sounds interesting and yummy! Food is always good!
ReplyDeleteAlso great verse - we are to live our lives expecting and being hopeful.
God Bless!!
I love that verse! Thanks for sharing that.
ReplyDeleteGood job, getting your taxes done. That must be a great feeling!
