Day 23: Look

One of my dreams growing up was to become a spy.  I was enamored of mysteries and thought the life of a spy was the most glamorous idea ever.

As some of my readers know, I quickly found out the spy game could never be my career.  I am simply not observant. I would look right past something happening and never see it.  I am too caught up in my own world!

While I recognize this fact about myself, I also know I need to change. Not to be accepted into the FBI or wherever spies get their start, but because I miss a lot of things. Important things.  Cues that might help me see when someone needs my help or encouragement. Blessings that are in plain view but in my preoccupation are often missed.

I want to do better.  I want to look around and notice this beautiful perplexing world we live in. I want to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

One of my favorite worship songs is Open the Eyes of My Heart, Lord.  It's important to see, not just physically but spiritually as well.

More than anything, I want to see Him!

  1. I laughed when I read the beginning of your post. In high school, I had a friend, Nancy and we loved watching "The Man from U.N.C.L.E. We decided we wanted to be spies too but that didn't last very long. I love that worship song. I also pray that God opens my eyes to the needs of others around me. Great post.
