Brew

"Brew" - transitive verb - To concoct; devise: brew a plot to overthrow the government. (Free Dictionary)

Have you noticed the Journey is never smooth. It's not meant to be. This is not Heaven here on earth, after all.

There will be days of great joy, but also days of plodding along just trying to make it to the next destination.

We need to remember we do have an enemy. Especially if we are blithely enjoying a mountaintop experience, he is busy concocting or devising a plan to steal our joy. He loves to brew a plot to overthrow our plans to reach our destination of Home. (Ever notice how  we can get attacked on a Monday after a glorious time with the Lord on a Sunday?) It's like a storm brewing as clouds darken and roll in. We can see the signs of a storm and know it will soon not be safe to be outdoors.

When we encounter a storm on our journey, what is the first thing to do? Run scared and hide in the first hole we see?

Remember your traveling companion! He will guide you every step of the way if you will look to Him.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed for the Lord Your God is with you wherever you go.   Joshua 1:9

You can overcome the enemy's plan by relying on HIS strength, not your own.Take courage, my friend. You are not alone.

The Journey is our way Home. There is nothing more important than making that final destination. Jesus paid my ticket there, but I have to walk it out. In October, I will be observing the things that happen while traveling the Journey and writing a daily post about my observations.

Because I like to stretch myself, I will also do a challenge within a challenge - 31 days of 5 minute free writes. I will take a topic and run with it, writing furiously for 5 minutes, tailoring it to relate to my theme of examining life along the Journey.

If you are a subscriber, you will receive my #31Day posts each day. If you're not a subscriber, why not? Please go up to the Follow By Email box in the very top of the right column and enter in your email address. I don't want you to miss a thing!

You can also click here each day and look at the bottom of this post. The link to the newest post will be there.

If you would like to join in on the 31 Day Challenge, either as a writer or a reader, go here.

  1. A challenge within a challenge...clever! Seriously, I missed you on Fresh Market Friday and just wanted to stop by to read what you are up to. So glad I did, because I have experiences exactly what you are talking about this week. And here I read one of my favorite and well-cited scriptures for everyone else. Seems I needed this for myself, so thanks for the re-grounding:)
