The first is to love God with all our mind, soul and strength. This requires a love that is not superficial, but one that calls for everything that is within us. If we are all wrapped in loving God with all that we are, we will not have to worry about not measuring up to the standards God has for us. We will naturally know His will and want to do it. His word will be written on our hearts.
It is right for Him to ask us to love Him with all that we are, because He gave us His all!
The second thing is that we must love others as much as we love ourselves. Loving like this would demand an "others-centered" way of living.
Both of these kinds of loves means putting ourselves, our interests and desires on the back burner. In a culture where everything is focused on self-gratification, a person who truly loved in this fashion would stand out like a light shining in darkness pointing the way Home.
