After reading the blog, I realize I'm not alone. . I do remember going to the Ben Franklin store with my Grandmother to buy chocolate covered raisins and peanuts for my Grandfather. They would weigh them and put them in paper sacks. We always got to choose a treat too. The comments about sodas reminded me that we used to take our bottles back to the store for a "refund." My Great-Grandmother's favorite candy was Haystacks-caramel/coconut mounds of sweetness.Rhondahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18434064096644393195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1069784873554550905.post-68390298866031300222014-03-13T21:19:43.207-05:002014-03-13T21:19:43.207-05:00My mom would make white cupcakes with white frosti...My mom would make white cupcakes with white frosting and red hots on top. Those old fashioned candies are memory lane. Ever heard of an Orange Slice Cake (made with those candy orange slices?) It's a southern cake. Can google a recipe. I sent my sister a recipe I found since she loves orange slices.Madamdreamweaverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16919566669777408584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1069784873554550905.post-51307485864422469502014-03-13T19:06:11.158-05:002014-03-13T19:06:11.158-05:00I remember that pizza!!! She would also buy a 1/2 gallon of vanilla ice cream and cut it in pieces just enough for every body to have a piece. My uncle's ran a implement shop and he had one of the old soda machine that had the little glass bottles of coke, he would give us 1 for free and we would put a bag of peanuts in it...Good times!!! But, we always had dessert after dinner.

I remember going to the cupboard after school and getting into raisins and chocolate chips to satisfy my snake craze until dinner.carol danielshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15199172053416419162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1069784873554550905.post-3737681704867222552014-03-13T13:25:42.207-05:002014-03-13T13:25:42.207-05:00Are the Orange Slices those candied ones?
