Opposite

You might just be a Christian, if you ... live an opposite life from the world.

As Christians, we are asked to live a life that is oftentimes totally opposite of what the natural man would do.

Examples:
Offering the other cheek instead of fighting back
Letting God seek vengeance instead of taking matters into our own hands
Instead of seeking to be number one, being a servant
Instead of trying to amass fame and fortune, seeking first the kingdom of God
Be content instead of always wanting more

As our culture grows increasingly non-Christian, the gap between what the natural man and the Christian thinks and believes will widen.

In fact, this is what should happen. If the world sees no difference between themselves and the Christian, we have not done our job.

We're to be salt and light to a lost and dying world. How can we do that if we look just like them?

The world asks, "What's in it for me?"

The Christian asks, "What would Jesus do?" (And then does it!)

Total opposites.

I invite you to take the lesser traveled road, the narrow path, the high road, the opposite direction than the world takes.

The rewards will be out - of - this - world.

I'm so glad you are here! Follow me each day as I attempt to define what a Christian is ... and isn't.

I'm always interested in your thoughts. Let me know if there is a word Christians use that you don't understand. I'd be interested to write about it.

  1. I think it catches people by surprise when you do the opposite of what they are expecting you to do :)

but in the majority of the cases its the same thing Jesus had done during his life here on earth :)

  2. I never thought I'd ever see the world turn away from Christianity. I'm still amazed every day at some of the things I read in online news. If things have changed this much from when I was a kid, I can't imagine what the next 30 years change will bring. It's scary.

    I'm returning the visit.
