Friday's Fave Five - First Friday in March!

I'm excited that we are in the first week of March.  It feels like Spring is on the way - in fact, she made her presence known this week in some killer storms! Here in the Heartland of America, we have families mourning the loss of loved ones in the wake of an F-4 tornado. This event happened a couple counties away from me; I understand there was much wind gusting in nearby towns with alarms going off and people taking up residence in basements.

I blissfully slept through it all.

1.  My first favorite of this week's Friday's Favorite Five, therefore, is thankfulness that we were safe and that I have the gift of sleeping through anything!  ( I think that's a gift ...)

2.  New Technology:  We didn't plan it, but this week we stumbled upon a couple deals and ended up with a brand new flat-screen television (our old TV has lasted since our last two kids were toddlers) and a new-to-me IPod Touch.  Now we just have to figure out how to work them.....

3.  Love that DVR! We've had a lot of fun watching American Idol this week, all thanks to our DVR that allows us to go on with our regular life and watch programs when our schedule allows it.  I used to know a person who could hardly bear to go to Wednesday night prayer meeting because American Idol was on. I don't know why I like that show so much - certainly not because I'm a fan of pop music - but I love the stories of these kids trying to live their dream. I've only recently got involved watching the show during seasons 10 and now 11.  I wish I had watched when Carrie Underwood was on!

4. Last week, I mentioned experimenting with a recipe and making Taco Cupcakes.  I made them again for our monthly all-church fellowship and they were well-received.  I posted the recipe, here.  You gotta love raves on your recipe.

5.  Scripture for thought:

1 Peter 4:8-10, "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." (NIV)

Am I using the gifts I've been given to serve others?

  4. Ohhhh, the taco cupcakes look delish. I am going to the store today to pick up the ingredients for dinner and a movie (That Darn Cat).

It is a gift to be able to sleep through anything. That is one gift I'd love to have. So glad that you and your family are all safe from the tornado. I will say a prayer for those affected after I hit enter.

I like new technology, but I don't like having to learn how to use it!

  5. So glad you are safe and that the tornado did not disturb your sleep.

Such a tragedy for those who were in its path, though.

Welcome to the 21st century! LOL
    Enjoy your new 'gadgets'.

  6. So glad you are safe and sound. My prayers were with the families who lost so much.

New technology boggles my mind. If it wasn't for my hubby I'd probably still have the first tv we ever had. LOL.

  7. I'm so glad you were safe in those tornadoes. The news has been concerning. Hurray for the new TV--flat screens are so much less bulky.

Thank you also for the recipe, I loved the way they looked last week, and these will be fantastic for parties.
Enjoy your new technology, and thank you for the lovely scripture reflection.
